The Attorney General’s Office Celebrated International Women’s Day
Attorney General's Office (AGO) celebrated the international women's day at AGO Darulaman with the participation of Saranyar Mohammad Asif Fayaz, Director of Information and Public Relations Directorate (IPRD), officials of Gender department, prosecutor Wali Tareen and female employees.
In this ceremony, Mohammad Asif Fayaz, IPRD Director said that woman is the blessing of Allah and added: “Women realize their importance when they consider the life of Bibi Khadijah, practice her advices and guidance. Besides being a valuable women, she was a good teacher, an advisor, and a business woman. Mr. Fayaz stated that women in Afghanistan face some critical challenges and said: “Problems do exist but, we should fight against them. The inconclusive slogans not only decrease the problems but also increase violence against women.
He asked women to start intellectual and practical combat for their future active role in all affairs in the country. According to him, knowledge is an important tool in achieving the women’s rights.
Miss Halima Bano asked more active participation of women in the government institutions. She also added that in backward countries including Afghanistan, women are considered inferior and gender based violence against them exists while Islam Religion has destined rights and position for women. There is no difference between black and white; Arab and non-Arab and none has superiority over others; except pious. She added that according to government action plan, women should have 30% participation in all government Tashkeel.
Subsequently, Prosecutor Wali Taren, said: we can enjoy peace and stability only when women are given equal right and respect. He deemed education necessary for women as a pillar for their rights. Mr. Taren called on parents to allow their daughters to get education.
Similarly, Yasmeen Hassam, Head of Gender Unit, gave her speech regarding international women’s day. Then, the ceremony was ended with reading poetry and presenting gifts to female participants.
For the first time, Women's Day was held on February 28, 1909 in New York by the Socialist Party of America. Since then, it has been celebrated in most countries of the world with special programs.
