AGO Weekly High Council Meeting Held
On May 1, The AGO weekly High Council Meeting was held in participation of AGO Deputies and Directors. The Attorney General, Mr. Hameedi said “Every citizen has the right of having quality food”.
The very important agenda in the meeting was the suggestion of Directorate of Study and Scrutiny on the 7 consignment of “expired sugar.” The sugar consignment was imported from western borders to Herat Province while ago.
The AGO high council decided to prosecute the case and the importers seriously.
Mohammad Farid Hameedi said: “AGO is responsible to ensure public rights, and having quality food items is one of their rights to be ensured”.
The High Council decided to instruct Customs and Ministry of Public Health to seriously consider expiry dates of all food items and medications.
Based on the decision of the High Council of AGO, expiry dates of food items and medications should be the main standard while importing goods in customs.
If a material is expired, Customs and Ministry of Public Health do not have the right to send the expired materials to labs for quality confirmation.
Also, the participants prayed for the soul of SamyuDin Raheen, head of Herat Appellate Prosecution. Mr. Raheen was martyred in an attack in Herat last week. Once again, the High Council of AGO asked the office of President and security organizations to ensure the security of prosecutors.
