AGO held High Council meeting chaired by Attorney General Farid Hamidi
The meeting held today March 5, in the presence of AGO deputies and high council members.
At first, participants discussed the proposal of Kabul Appellate Prosecution Office on suspects of drugs smuggling whose cases are final. The proposal was about the issue of prisoners whose sentence terms are over but they refuse to offer bails to get release. Based on formal decision of the High Council, Director of Kabul Appellate Prosecution Office illustrated the issue.
The High Council emphasized that the law interpretation should be used in favor of the accused. Attorney General Office, as a provider of justice should support rights of the people. The directorate of research and studies was assigned to carry out a comprehensive investigation and report it to the High Council.
The meeting participants also discussed suggestion of General Directorate of Counter-Narcotics and Intoxicants Prosecution Office about following cases which are not listed under drugs category, but play a role in the contents as well as boosting the bulk of drugs. It was
The High Council decided that the Prosecution Office should only prosecute those products which are noticeably illegal to maintain traffic and consume.
In the next part, the meeting discussed, suggestion of Provisions Enforcement Prosecution Office regarding establishment of a Commission on those who are barred from foreign travel.
The Council, due to availability of records of this issue in the Provisions Enforcement Prosecution Office assigned the mentioned office to execute applications of those who want their ban be lifted.
The meeting also reviewed scrutiny recommendation of research and studies directorate regarding concession and also absolution of prisoners and children under detection.
The Council approved four cases that research and studies directorate investigated. Regarding quittance, the Council decided that the mentioned Directorate should accurately investigate to provide equal justice and defend public freedom in a better way.
