Achievements of Justice and Judicial Center in Combatting Heavy Corruption Crimes

 

Attorney General’s Office (AGO) Spokesman, Jamshid Rasouli, shared results of the Justice and Judicial Center’s activities with the media in a news conference held on Wednesday, July 05, 2017 at the Government’s Media and Information Center.

Mr. Rasouli stated that the center has registered 274 corruption cases since its establishment in June 2016.

Civilian Cases:

216 out of 274 are civilian cases. 28 cases have been finalized and submitted to the Directorate of Primary Prosecution Office. 17 cases are under review by investigative offices. Primary investigations have been completed 51 of the cases and due to lack of authority; these cases have been referred to relevant offices for further investigations. Meanwhile, 56 more cases have been rejected and the other 64 are under investigation.

After the investigation, 1 person has been arrested, 4 suspended, 16 barred while 87 others have been released on bails and valid guarantees.

Military Prosecution Cases

The Justice and Judicial Center has registered 58 cases of military prosecution. 8 cases have been finalized and submitted to the Primary Court, 25 others are under investigation and 22 more have been rejected. Three persons have been arrested, 6 suspended, 19 barred while 7 of them have been released on bail.

Money entered into the Government’s Budget

As a result of investigation and decision on the mentioned cases, seven hundred and forty one (741) million and one hundred ninety five (195) thousand and nine hundred fifty one (951) Afghanis, four (4) million six hundred sixty three (663) and forty five (45) US dollars were received from the convicts and entered into the government’s bank account.

The mentioned courts have also ordered the government to reject one hundred sixty two (162) million eight hundred eighty seven (887) thousand and five hundred twenty five (525) Afghanis, three (3) million and seven hundred twenty four (724) thousand and eight hundred forty five (845) US million dollar as well as two thousand thirty five (2035) acres of land.

On the other hand, seven (7) million sixty three (63) thousand Afghanis, two hundred eighty two (282) thousand and two hundred (200) US dollars, two hundred ninety nine (299) thousand and five hundred (500) PKR cash, two (2) vehicles and three hundred seventeen (317) grams of gold were confiscated from the convicts.

Meanwhile, AGO spokesman considers the fight against corruption as one of fundamental commitments of the AGO. He added that, as an independent and impartial institutions, AGO addresses all cases seriously and deliberately so that to maintain justice and defend rights and freedom of the citizens.
