The AGO High Council Meeting was Conducted under Chairmanship of Mohammad Farid Hamidi the Attorney General of Afghanistan
This meeting was held with participation of Deputies of Attorney General and Central Heads of the AGO for making decisions on important issues of this office on Sunday October 9, 2016.
In the first part of this session, providing papers and information of the cases to litigants was the topic of discussion. The AGO High Council decided not to provide the reports to the people from now onwards, but the reports shall be officially sent to AGO for making decision upon them. It was also decided to assign the Directorate of Scrutiny and Studies and AGO Advisors Board to find a procedure in this regard with observance of Law on Access to Information and other enforced regulations of the country to clearly provide information to the litigants. The committee is obliged to identify which papers of the case, how and to whom provided. The Attorney General mentioned fully considering the dignity of children, women, and families when providing the information. Meanwhile, the people’s rights to accessing information is vital. Additionally, there should not be any distractions in the investigation process and ensuring the dignity of affected persons.
In the next part of the session, the High Council discussed Afghanistan’s nationwide prosecutor conference agenda. In this part, the assigned committee conducting the conference presented their work reports to the High Council. The High Council approved the conference agenda after the necessary amendments for the upcoming event.
