Attorney General’s Office (AGO) conducts its High Council Meeting

On August 13, 2017, Saranpooh Mohammad Farid Hamidi, Attorney General (AG) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan chaired the AGO High Council meeting.

Mr. Hamidi congratulated successful conclusion of the joint conference on combatting corruption within the security and defensive sectors.

He added that an authorized AGO delegation will be assigned in cooperation with a professional team of CID, MOI to investigate deadly incident of Mirzaolang Village located in Sayad District, of Sare Pul province and will report its results. In addition, he mentioned that the AGO has dispatched a delegation to deal with the incident occurred in Cha’aab District of Takhar Province and the perpetrators will be legally prosecuted once identified.    

The meeting participants discussed the draft on appointing prosecutors at the cadre level positions which was prepared by Human Resources Directorate. This draft has been concluded in four chapters and 23 articles. The aim of the appointments was to identify and maintain incentives and grades of professional members of the AGO, pave the way for capacity building and professional activities of prosecutors, deliver transparent and excellent judicial services and increase awareness and professional skills of prosecutors.

The high council decided that the mentioned draft should be sent to Legislative Committee for revision, the high council will have a detailed discussion on this issue in upcoming meetings to make a comprehensive decision.

They also discussed suggestion No. 40185 of General Directorate of Crimes against Internal and External Security dated July 29, 2017. 

Likewise, the meeting participants discussed on article 14 of Police Inherent Affairs Law which suggests appointing military institutes graduates as Second Lieutenants. However, article 6 of the Police Inherent Affairs Law (2010) suggests appointing bachelor graduates of Police Academy a step behind promotion as Second Lieutenants.

The high council decided the mentioned proposal should be sent to Inherent and Organizational Affairs Committee and the results should be submitted to the high council.
