Saranpoh Mohammad Farid Hamidi, the Attorney General, chaired a High Council meeting on June 18, 2017, at the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) located in Darul Aman vicinity of Kabul city.

The meeting began with discussion of Suggestion Number 17 of the Joint Committee of Panjsher Appellate Prosecution Directorate about road construction projects of Public Works Directorate as well as collection of azure and emerald stones by this Directorate.

Given the complexity of corruption cases, the High Council decided that the promises anticipated in this regard within the prevailing laws of the country are not enough; therefore, a request for instruction should be referred to the Supreme Court High Council so that legal actions could be taken based on the council’s feedback.

The meeting also discussed procedures for utilizing operation cost of the Control and Supervision Department of the AGO; deeming these procedures as an effective and benevolent initiative. The High Council decided that these procedures will be presented in the next meeting of the Council once the assigned committee chaired by Saranpoh Noor Habib Jalal, Deputy Attorney General for Investigation, reviews the operation cost procedures.

The Council discussed the draft travel ban proposal delivered by the Decree Enforcement Prosecution Office.  The High Council decided that for the sake of protecting citizen’s rights, the proposal shall be approved by the AGO High Council and signed by the Attorney General after legally assessing and evaluating the context of the issue, and should be sent out to responsible authorities to act accordingly.
