First Lady Rula Ghani began the program by reciting a verse of Holy Quran related to the importance of fighting violence against women.
The Attorney General mentioned the efforts of AGO regarding fighting violence against women and pointed out that creation of the Deputy Office of Fighting Violence against Women, Juvenile Violation, and Human Rights Protection in AGO indicates the dedication to this effort. Mr. Hamidi said, “Afghanistan’s government and the AGO is committed to fight violence against women. It is for safety of families and prosperity of the community.”
According to Attorney General’s opinion, fighting violence against women is not only an international commitment. Programs of government and AGO in relation to fighting violence against women come up from the culture and ideology of Afghans. He said,” The purpose of this effort is maintaining justice for people and families in Afghanistan and safety of families will be protected through this MoU and AGO diligence.”
According to the MoU, organizations have to report any cases of violence regarding their women employees to the AGO. Attorney General’s Office will prosecute cases sent by organizations to Deputy of Violence against Women, Juvenile Violation, and Human Rights Protection.
AGO and the four ministries signed the MoU during the campaign of fighting violence against women. The international campaign of fighting violence against women begins every year on November 25 and lasts for sixteen days.
