Database on Elimination of Violence against Women Cases Makes Accountability Transparent
Parwin Rahimi, Director of Special Prosecution for Elimination of Violence against Women (EVAW) and Juvenile Offenses met with Abdullah Ibrahimkhel, Director of Planning and Policy of Attorney General’s Office (AGO), Officer of Information and Public Relations, and Prosecutors of Violence against Women in the Provinces on August 23, to discuss the use of the EVAW database. The meeting was held at the AGO in Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul.
Mrs. Rahimi informed participants that International development of Law Organization (IDLO) recently established the Database System for Recording Cases of Violence against Women at AGO and said, “By supporting a woman, we can support a family.” “From now on, recording cases of violence against women in the database will be one of the fundamental duties of Prosecutors.” She further added.
Mrs. Rahimi said that the Human Resources Department shall include information on prosecutors when recording cases in the database. She also added that the Prosecution office for Elimination of Violence against Women is operating in all 34 provinces of the country.”
According to Mrs. Rahimi, “A database for recording cases of juvenile offenses will also be established with the cooperation of IDLO.”
Abdullah Ibrahimkhil, Director of Plan and Policy also emphasized on Databases for effective and transparent reporting.
With regards to improving the Information and Public Relations Department, Mr. Ulfat Amirzada, stated, “Henceforth, all Provincial Appellate Prosecution Offices have to share their reports on performance and activities with Information and Public Relations Directorate.” He added, “Provincial Appellate Prosecution Offices should assign communication officers who will share the activities and performances of their offices with the Information and Public Relations Department”.
The databases will improve AGO transparency and accountability and enhance generating multipurpose reports.
