Fourth Prosecutors Coordination Meeting of Special Prosecution Office on Elimination of Violence against Women

AGO Professional Training Institute with cooperation of International Development of Law Organization (IDLO) conducted a General Meeting of Special Prosecution Office on Elimination of Violence against Women. The meeting held in Kabul on Monday, August 8, 2016; attended by Pohanmal Maliha Hassan Deputy of AG in Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mary Lou Schramm, Head of IDLO, and some central heads of AGO and officials of Special Prosecution Office on Elimination of Violence against Women from provinces also participated in the meeting.

Pohanmal Maliha Hassan opened the meeting by expressing appreciation of IDLO on its cooperation with AGO saying, “We try to build capacities of our colleagues; especially the ones in Special Prosecution Office on Elimination of Violence against Women. The aim of these efforts is to enhance women’s status all over the country. Developing educational capacity of prosecutors can help us protect women’s rights in Afghanistan.”

Ms. Mary Lou Schramm, Head of IDLO, considers the prosecutors of Special Prosecution Office on Elimination of Violence against Women important part of Afghanistan Justice and Judicial System. She believes these people have the ability to enforce laws all over the country. Pointing to the prosecutors of Special Prosecution Office on Elimination of Violence against Women, she added, “You can support the rights of women and juveniles in Afghanistan. In addition, you have the ability to make Afghanistan stable and regulated. If you have such hopes, then IDLO will help you seriously in this regard.”

IDLO is one of the important donors of Attorney General’s Office. This organization has been conducting General meetings of Special Prosecution Office on Elimination Violence against Women from the past few years.  Problems, challenges, and solutions are topics discussed to enhance women’s condition in Afghanistan.
