Hundred Men and Women Receive Amnesty and Remission in Pul-e-Charkhi Prison
On December 6, 2017, based on the presidential decree number 168 One hundred prisoners were entitled to amnesty and remission on Milad Al- Nabi (Birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad PBUH) and were released in the presence of AGO Decision Enforcement Director and Amnesty and Remission Implementation Committee Director, Mohammad Asad Sapai, General Director of Puli-e-Charkhi prison, Brigadier General Mohammad Tawab Ahmadzai and other staff of the prison.
Pointing to the prisoners, Mr. Mohammad Asad Sapai said: “Everyone commits a mistake in his/her life, but you should have learned from the time you have spent in the Prison.”
Mr. Sapai added that Prison is the place to reform criminals, so after release they should even stop other members of the society from committing crime.
He said to the Prisoners that after suffering problems and adversities during imprisonment you should stop committing crimes in the future.
In the meantime, the released prisoners demonstrated satisfaction from the behavior of prison officials. They said that they have not witnessed any illegal behavior by the authorities.
Based on the mentioned decree, 74 men were pardoned and 10 others were released after they completed their terms following the remission. On the other hand, 14 women prisoners were also among the released prisoners while two other women received discount in their imprisonment.
Totally 100 prisoners were released from Prison in the first phase of the decree. It is expected that some other prisoners will soon benefit the next phases of this decree.
