Ms. Maliha Hassan, New Deputy of AGO in Administrative and Finance Affairs

Ms. Maliha Hassan, AGO Deputy in Administrative and Finance Affairs, has officially started working. A gathering was conducted for her introduction with participation of Engineer Mohammad Khan, First Deputy of Chief Executive Office; Mohammad Farid Hamidi, Attorney General of Afghanistan; AGO authorities; Authorities of Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission; other Ministers, and the people’s representatives from  Parliament.

Appreciating the President of Afghanistan’s trust of AGO, Mohammad Farid Hamidi said, “The commitment to serve people does exist in the AGO. We will fulfil all our duties towards people of Afghanistan.”

Pointing at Ms. Hassan, Deputy Administrative and Financial Director of AGO, Mr. Hamidi said that practical success of our colleagues are actually your success. We need facilities in order to carry out our responsibilities properly. We have a big duty and authority in this regard.  “We will fulfil the promises we made with the people of Afghanistan.”

Mr. Hamidi believes livelihood and safety of AGO employees are very important to this office. AGO has the lowest salary and the least budget among Afghan institutions. He continued, “Recruitment is also important for the AGO. Before this, recruitment would not occur based on assessment of AGO itself. From now on, all reforms and recruitment will happen based on assessment of the AGO.

Engineer Mohammad Khan, First Deputy of Chief Executive Office, introduced Ms. Hassan as one of the national cadres and said, “Expectation of people from the AGO is to secure justice. I hope that the new team of AGO will regain its public trust.”

First Deputy of Chief Executive Office requested AGO authorities to pay serious attention to the staff salary, and establishment of offices in the furthest areas of Afghanistan.

Appreciating the trust of the president, Maliha Hassan said, “The past unstable situation has caused a lot of damage of justice security. Sometimes, we have not had enough opportunity and resources to protect justice. Right now, the political commitment for positive change exists in the AGO.”

Ms. Hassan considered identifying gaps, taking care of salaries, budget development, and staff capacity building as her work priorities and promised to try her best to bring reform in the office. Additionally, she emphasized getting the whole work force to focus on reducing administrative corruption.

Doctor Ahmad Moshahid, Head of Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission, said that selection of Ms. Maliha is one of the best decisions of President Ghani and added, “I know from the experience I have had with Ms. Hassan that selecting her is a great decision of the president. Her presence would be a great start for bringing positive changes in the AGO.”

According to Mr. Mushahid, selection of Farid Hamidi and Ms. Hassan are signs of the president’s serious intention for proper governance.

Then, in a separate gathering, Mr. Farid Hamidi inaugurated Vocational Training Institute of the AGO and later participated in a Children’s Day celebration party.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Attorney General prayed for the souls of the martyrs of terrorists’ attack on Logar Province AGO. He once again emphasized that such cowardly attacks will never have any impact on AGO and its programs.
