The Session of High Council of Attorney General’s Office Held under Chairmanship of Saranpoh Mohammad Farid Hamidi, Attorney General of Afghanistan

In the session held on January 8, 2017 with presence of deputies and members of AGO High Council, the group made decisions on key issues.

The session opened with discussion on a letter of General Directorate of Counter Narcotics and Intoxicants Special Prosecution Office, article 19 of Counter Narcotics Law and article 4 of Law on Preventing Money Laundering.

The High Council decided to refer articles 4, 17, and 19 of Counter Narcotics and Intoxicants to be to the Supreme Court for further details.

The High Council discussed amendment of Law on Structure and Authority of the Attorney General’s Office. The Council analyzed articles of the law.

The Council discussed Law on Structure and Authority of the Attorney General’s Office for performance improvement and AGO affairs. Previously, a Committee formed under directorship of AGO’s Deputy in Financial Affairs will present amendment of the law to the High Council. After scheduling and verification by the High Council of the revision process, it will replace the current law. The revision makes broad changes compared to the previous law. Some changes include establishing a Deputy Office of Elimination of Violence against Women, Juvenile Violations and Supporting Human Rights in the Law on Structure and Authority of the Attorney General’s Office.
