The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) Reports Three Years’ Performance in a Press Conference

The conference focusing AGO’s performance during the last three years led by the AGO spokesperson, Jamshid Rasooli and held at Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) on December 9, 2017.

Mr. Rasooli added that, “there have been some changes and reclassifications in AGO for the purpose of reforms in central and provincial directorates.” According to him those who were involved in corruption were terminated and replaced with committed and expert individuals. The changes and replacements involve nearly 50 Directors in the center and provinces.

The spokesperson added, “AGO always struggles for employees’ capacity building and according to him, the Professional Trainings Institute has been established for this purpose.” 

He further added that AGO conducts some capacity building programs for its employees in the country, and some of them will be considered for trainings abroad. 

Additionally, he said that Attorney General has allocated a week day for visitors to meet and talk to them closely. According to him, this action enhanced public reliability and trust on AGO.

Mr. Rasooli said that the Attorney General has ordered on about 6000 complaints to the relevant authorities in the last two years. According to him, to meet gender equality, AGO increased the number of female employees up to 17%, that currently some of them working at deputy and director levels at the AGO.

He said that AGO has important achievements regarding travel banned people. He believes that so far AGO removed about 1500 individuals from the travel banned list who were illegally listed.

According to Mr. Rasooli, AGO has dealt with 33000 cases in 2015 and 34500 in 2016 and about 34500 other cases up to the third quarter of the current year, as a result billions of Afghanis and millions of Dollars have been deposited into the government treasury.

He emphasized that AGO has established Anti-Corruption Justice Center. This center received, reviewed and finalized about 373 cases so far.

He talked about the 5th National Prosecutors’ Conference adding that the conference will be held to boost up AGO cooperation with its employees in remote areas of the country.

The conference is to be held in near future titled “Improving Rule of Law and Ensuring Justice in Afghanistan” the conference will be held in participation of Directors and Prosecutors of the capital, provinces, and Kabul districts.
