The Purpose of Elimination of Violence against Women is Maintaining Affection and Discipline in the Family

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) Elimination of Violence against Women (EVAW) conducted a one-year performance reporting conference on March 12, 2017, with the presence of governmental and non-governmental media at the government’s media center hall.

Fighting violence against women is one of the basic duties, which the AGO performs in addition to other duties.  Parwin Rahimi, Director of Prosecution Office for EVAW and Juvenile Violation said, “AGO is holding awareness programs in order to decrease the number of violence and to persuade victims to report their complaints.”

Ms. Rahimi believes that AGO has taken effective actions regarding fighting violence against women and one of the achievements is establishing the Deputy Attorney General office for Elimination of Violence against Women.

Special Prosecution Office of Elimination of Violence against Women has performed effective activities through its organizational structure of women prosecutors in 23 provinces, with 49 active women prosecutors in Afghanistan, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with different ministries, and recruiting 244 women for the internship and capacity building programs.
