Saranpoh Mohammad Farid Hamidi, Attorney General of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, conducted AGO High Council Meeting

On May 28, 2017, Attorney General’s Office (AGO) conducted a High Council meeting with participation of Deputies and all members of the High Council.

At the beginning of the meeting, Saranpoh Mohammad Farid Hamidi, Attorney General of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, greeted the holy month of Ramadan to all members of the council and Afghan people and wished peace, security and blessings from almighty Allah.

The Attorney General asked respectful religious scholars to proclaim counter-corruption through their speeches during the holy month in Masjids.

Mr. Hamidi also suggested to scholars to encourage people to obey laws, and asked their cooperation with AGO and said, “Scholars should share their opinions and suggestions regarding counter corruption with this office to ensure further social justice in the society.”

On the other hand, AG Hamidi reminded the Council members of AGO holding a successful Justice, Good Governance, and Sustainable Development Conference and appreciated the work of organizers of the important event.

The main issue of the May 28 meeting was a request for instruction of the Prosecution Office for Combating Crimes against Internal and External Security regarding how to facilitate money collected from the accused either in cash at the arrest or as a cash fine. The High Council decided that the Law Enforcement, Monitoring, Detention and the Audit Directorates of AGO should prepare a draft response in cooperation with each other, citing laws and issues, and present it to the Council in the next meeting.
