The Attorney General Visits Counter-Narcotics and Intoxicants Justice and Judicial Center

The Attorney General (AG), Saranpoh Mohammad Farid Hamidi, visited the Counter-Narcotics and Intoxicants Justice and Judicial Center on May 30, 2017, and met with a number of officials while visiting the organization.    AG Hamidi visited the Primary and Appellate courts; as well as the Investigation, Primary, Appellate, and Supreme Departments of the Special Counter Narcotics Prosecution Office.  Additionally, Mr. Hamidi met with the staff of the Research, Assessment, and Laboratory Departments, Administrative and Press Directorates, and the Custody Department. Mr. Mohammad Aref Noori, General Director of Counter-Narcotics and Intoxicants Prosecution Office, delivered an orientation on the Justice and Judicial Center by explaining its jurisdiction.

Mr. Noori said those accused of dealing drugs and intoxicants will be punished after their investigation and criminal cases are completed considering the crime level. The Attorney General praised achievements and workflow of the Justice and Judicial Center on fighting the smugglers and drug mafia. Mr. Hamidi expressed how the center is considered one of the best administrations and should be proud of its work process and implementation of justice.

Mr. Noori added that the procedures, transparency, and accurate manner in addressing cases of intoxicants and drug crimes is according to the enacted laws in the country.  The government uses the Center as a model for countering heavy administrative corruption. Moreover, Mr. Noori said that the Afghan government leadership is committed to combat all kinds of drug crimes and there are programs on hand to eliminate challenges ahead of this phenomenon.

The Attorney General, Saranpoh Mohammad Farid Hamidi, concluded his visit by announcing AGO support for the Counter-Narcotics and Intoxicants Justice and Judicial Center in Afghanistan.
