Afghan Attorney General Signed MoU with his Uzbek Counterpart
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Mohammad Farid Hamidi, the Attorney General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Atabek Moradov, Attorney General of Uzbekistan, on Monday 17th of June 2019 at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The aim of this MoU is to combat crime and justice cooperation for expanding rule of law and ensuring peace with observing mutual respect, international treaties and in accordance with the laws of both countries to protect the rights and the freedoms of citizens of both countries.
Mohammad Farim Hamidi, the Attorney General of the country, during a ceremony that was set up for this purpose, point out to the importance of signing this Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Office of the Attorney General of both countries and considered it as the beginning of bilateral relations and cooperation of both countries and added that “The Republic of Uzbekistan is a good neighbor for Afghanistan and always wants to develop and strengthen good relations with the Afghan government in the fields of security, education, economics and justice."

Atabek Moradov, Attorney General of the Republic of Uzbekistan, has provided information on the structure, competencies, and procedures of Uzbek AGO in the fight against crime and announced readiness to implement the MoU, and emphasized to accelerate the process of exchange of information electronically and bilateral cooperation.
On the basis of this MoU, the Attorney General’s Office of the two countries will cooperate with each other on combating corruption, economic and tax crimes, drug trafficking, terrorist crimes and terrorism financing, cybercrimes, organized crimes, environmental crimes, exchange of information and capacity building.

During this official trip, the Attorney General of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in addition to signing the memorandum, visited the justice organs of the country at the center, provinces and districts level, and also visited with the head of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Minister of Interior, the head of the Attorney General's Academy And the prosecutors General of the Khwarazm, Bukhara and Samarqand provinces.
