A Memorandum of Understanding was Singed between the AGO and Da Afghanistan Bank

The Purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to exchange information between the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Da Afghanistan Bank to fight against money laundering, financing terrorism and other financial crimes.
In a ceremony held on 31st of October 2019 in the conference hall of the Da Afghanistan Bank, Khwaja Abdul Haq Ahmadi, Deputy of AGO for Anti-corruption Affairs, Wahidullah Nawsher, Acting Chairman of the Da Afghanistan Bank, the First Deputy Chairman of Da Afghanistan Bank and a number of officials from the AGO and Da Afghanistan Bank were present.
During this ceremony, Mr. Ahmadi said that fighting against every crime, particularly anti-corruption, financing terrorism and money laundering are a top priority for AGO.
He further added that the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) in regards to its commitments have made with people and to national and international entities, efforts to provide the people with fair legal services for the rule of law and ensuring justice.
Mr. Ahmadi said, “establishing cooperation and coordination with various entities are at the center of the AGO leadership and in order to achieve its goals we have had signed various Memorandum of Understanding with various institutions.”
He reiterated the importance of this MoU in the fight against money laundering, financing terrorism and other financial crimes.
In another part of the ceremony, Wahidullah Nawshir, the Acting Chairman of the Da Afghanistan Bank said, that the AGO has always cooperated with DAB and called this MoU valuable and effective in terms of exchanging technical information.
At the end of this ceremony, Nisar Ahamd Yousafzai, General Manager for the Transaction Analysis and Financial Reports Center of the Da Afghanistan Bank, highlighted the importance of signing the MoU between these two entities and called for identifying the assets resulted from crimes.
Mr. Yousafzai added that despite we had such cooperation on the past, but by singing the MoU this cooperation and coordination will be performed in a more effective and regular basis.
Recently the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has signed a tripartite MoU for a new project of anti-corruption named “Anti-Corruption, Transparency, Integrity and Openness (ACTION)” with the Danish Embassy in Kabul and UNDP.
