Two Governmental Officials in Herat has been Sentenced to Imprisonment

The head of the 12th District of Herat province accused for corruption and in charge of transport for Karokh district accused of misuse of competency and embezzlement were prosecuted.

Elimination of corruption is one of the basic objectives of the Afghan government and the Attorney General along with other relevant agencies, is consistently working to achieve this objective.

As a result, Herat provincial prosecutor's office, in close cooperation with National Directorate of Security (NDS) of Herat, arrested the head of the 12th district of Herat province while receiving a 100,000 AFN bribe practically and after completing the finding process his case was sent to the Prosecution Office.

The prosecutor's office of Herat province filed a lawsuit after completing the investigation and ordering a charge against the defendant in Primary Court for Investigating of Crimes Resulting from Corruption in Herat province.

According to the decision of Judicial Panel dated 24th of April 2019, head of the 12th district of Herat city was sentenced to four years imprisonment and payment of 100,000 AFN.

Also, in charge of transport for Karokh district was sentenced to one year of imprisonment by a Judicial Panel on 3rd of April 2019.
