AGO will Implement all the Set-out Indicators by the EU until 2021

A year ago, the European Union (EU) set 13 indicators with 24 related goals for the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the field of Adjustment and Enrichment of Laws, Increasing Salary for the Prosecutors and Staff of the AGO, Human Resources, Capacity Building, Anti-Corruption and Combating Violence against Women.
The only objective of these indicators was improving public access to justice, ensuring of same and independence performances at AGO and creating of a powerful, effective, accountable and transparent justice entity.
A meeting was held on Wednesday, 12 July 2019 at Attorney General's Office, with the participation of the deputies and some heads of various departments of the Attorney General, EU officials in Kabul and the delegation of Ministry of Finance.
Saranpoh, Noor Habib Jalal, Deputy of the AGO in Investigative Affairs praised from the cooperation of the EU with the Attorney General’s Office of the IRoA. Jalal added that this is the best opportunity for the exchange of views and getting to the best possible way for implementing those set-out indicators for the AGO.
According to Jalal, the AGO pledge to implement all of those indicators thoroughly, in a better manner and at a specified time.
Wahid al-Din Arghoun, Deputy Attorney General for Finance and Administration, said that the European Union has undertaken a number of incentive programs to speed up reforms at Attorney General's Office.
Mr. Arghoun added that the AGO has taken the orders of the EU very seriously and we have made some progress too. According to Arghoun, by the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Finance and Attorney General’s Office (AGO), this process has been speeded up and we are ready to implement all these orders with the coordination of the technical delegation of the EU.
In another part of this meeting, Mr. Jalal expresses that implementing these orders at the AGO will be very effective for bringing reform and better justice services for the public.
Meanwhile, in charge of the EU programs for Afghanistan said that currently, we are cooperating with the Afghan government in two sectors “Justice and Security”. According to him, we are very serious in term of our cooperation with the AGO and Ministry of Interior (MoI) and it will continue in the future too.
In charge of the EU programs for Afghanistan believes that this program is designed based on the gaps of the previous experiences and hope for a successful implementation of this program.
The in charge of the EU programs for Afghanistan added that based on the trust that we have on AGO of the IRoA, so we began the project with the AGO and if it was successful, we will continue our cooperation with other sectors of the Afghan government too.
It is worth mentioning that the EU will provide the necessary budget for those institutions that are successfully implementing the set out indicators.
It is planned that the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) will implement these indicators until 2021.
