Ex-Police Chief of Sangin District Sentenced to Three Years & Six Months Imprisonment

Ahmadullah son of Mohammad Anwer, Ex-police chief of Sangin District of Helmand Province, accused of getting salary of October and November of 2014 of Sangin police officers and illegally detention of Abdul Mateen, the cashier of the district police for 27 days.

His case was transferred to the Primary Military Prosecution Office of Helmand in 2017.

When he was detained by Helmand police, the assigned prosecutor completed his investigation and filed a lawsuit against him and sent his case to the Primary Court.

On a public hearing held by the Primary Court of ACJC on 10/12/2018, Ahmadullah who is known as Haji Lala, was convicted for 5 years and 5 months of imprisonment and paying of 11,894,276 AFN. But, as a result of his protest, the case was sent to the Appellate Court of the ACJC.

The Appellate Court of the ACJC during a public hearing on 27/08/2019, sentenced Ahmadullah on the charge of misuse of power and illegal detention.

The Judiciary of this hearing, based on the Articles 414, 398, 396, 75 and 17 of the Penalty Code and by observing the 2nd Paragraph of Article 258 of the Penalty Code, sentenced Ahmadullah to three years and six months of imprisonment and paying of 11, 890450 AFN.
